Computer numerical control (CNC) allows for small to medium production runs or for a part that is too complex to run any other way. CNC has the ability to produce very precise curves, tapers, threads, pockets or any geometric shape. Tolerances of +/- .001” are common and even tighter tolerances can be achieved. Multiple axes allow for fewer operations resulting in a higher quality part. Tooling technology has made it possible to produce high quality at more rapid speeds on hard to machine materials. Matched with our powerful GibbsCam CadCam software, we can directly import your .DXF or .IGS file saving time and increasing accuracy, but any type of drawing will do. We have 33 CNC centers to better serve our clients.
Contour turning is the staple of this type of machine. An efficient roughing operation removes all excess material then a final finishing pass is performed for accuracy. A tool feeds into revolving stock along a complex series of curved or slanted lines in order to create symmetrical geometric shapes along a center axis. Radius or chamfering of any sharp corner can easily be performed, helping parts to mate better and handle without cutting into hands. Used in either chucking or automated mode operations such as turning, grooving, facing, drilling, boring, reaming, knurling, rigid tapping, single point threading, parting-off and part catching are easily performed. Tough to machine materials are much more easily handled on this type of machine.
Self feeding and self loading allow these CNC turning centers to operate automatically with only the need to verify the quality of product coming out. They work on a hydrodynamic principal that dampens vibration and lubricates the bar for optimum surface finishes.
The perfect companion to a turning center is the CNC Milling Center. It features similar principals in roughing and finishing. A rotating tool feeds into stock along a complex series of curved or slanted lines in order to create asymmetrical and/or symmetrical geometric shapes along a single or multiple planes and axes. Radius or chamfering of any sharp corner can easily be performed, helping parts to mate better and handle without cutting into hands. Face milling, pocketing, contouring, slotting, lettering, drilling, rigid tapping, reaming, boring and counter boring are just a few examples of operations that can be performed. The ability to run multiple parts at a time through the creative use of different types of workholding systems allows us to be even more efficient.
This easy to use yet very powerful software lets us quickly render part geometry, multiple fixtures, specify tooling to specific operations, generate a tool path, and verify tooling cuts before a program even sees a machine. Generates CNC machining code for any machine so if the machine that is typically used to make a certain part is occupied by another job, we can efficiently generate another program for a different machine.
